Mandala Le Lo Lai

"Mandala Le Lo Lai" is the third in a series of Mandala style paintings each based on aspects of Puerto Rican culture. This particular addition to the series focuses on musical instruments that have become tradional throughout the islands history.

Although I am exploring Puerto Rican themes in this current foray into my ancestral culture, my art is heavily influenced by many cultures including Asian, Indian, American Comic, and animation. The use of extensive geometry, and play on symmetry vs asymmetry is an ongoing study into visual aesthetics.

Here is an old favorite "Visionary Gandhi," it seems to be the crowd favorite so I decide to throw it back up. Made with Pencil, Ink, and PrismaColors Markers. In my portraits the third eye symbolizes someone who is/was working on a higher level of consciousness.

This is my latest PrismaColor Painting, stemming from my ancestral, and continuing fascination with my land of origin, Puerto Rico. It was drawn and colored by hand, consuming around 200 hours of labor. I hope that it inspires, and brings joy to all, not only those of you who can directly associate.
